The University of Virginia welcomes delegates from institutions, organizations and learned societies to participate in the inauguration of James E. Ryan. Registration information was sent to the institutions in late August.

Regalia and Robing

Delegates are requested to provide their own academic regalia for the ceremony. For delegates attending the Inaugural Luncheon, a coat check for academic regalia will be provided. Delegates can also drop off regalia in the Delegate Assembly Area located in Garrett Hall.

Academic Procession

Once at Garrett Hall, delegates will line up in order of their institution’s founding date. Faculty Marshals will then escort delegates to the Rotunda to prepare for the procession. At 3:00 p.m., the Installation Ceremony will begin with a procession down the Lawn to seating near Old Cabell Hall. *
